It was with the Achigã com Migas, an old traditional recipe from Abrantes, region of many lakes and rivers, that Fernanda & Zé Maria Martins brought the typical Cascata Restaurant to the spotlight of fine Portuguese regional food, by winning 1st prize at National Gastronomy Contest. Born and raised in the region, Fernanda Martins has managed to recover the recipes she |
learned from her mother and helped Abrantes, a vast region influenced by Beira Baixa, Ribatejo and Alentejo, to become a serious reference in the national gastronomy. Maranhos and Bucho, two typical dishes from Beira Baixa, have become a real reference on Tejo’s banks thanks to Fernanda, who insists on presenting her typical restaurant as "a flow of good tastes" |
