Alentejo is the perfect place for those looking for a limpid and simple way of being and feeling, far from the excesses and the overwhelming. It's here that João and Carla find peace of mind and recharge batteries for their intense professional activity. Both motivated by the discovery of the stimulating principles of Eastern philosophies, they decided together to restore an old family house in the centre of Arraiolos, transforming it into a comfortable guesthouse. Casa do Plátano is a place of retreat and meditation, which combines, in a creative and harmonious way, the ancient teachings and wisdom of the yoga philosophy of the energetic centres with the temporal and spatial surroundings of Alentejo. Namasté...!

 2. Zen Space
 3. Swimming pool
 4. Film projector
 5. Arraiolos tapestries
 6. NatureÂ’s activities

1. Shiatsu means ‘finger pressure’. A technique that combines massage with pressure in the Chinese acupuncture points, by incorporating friction and stretching movements that stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic flow.

2. A room dedicated to the discovery and enjoyment of the Eastern philosophies, in a simple and authentic environment.

3. The swimming pool offers a pleasant escape for the warmer days. Protected between walls, it ensures privacy and itÂ’s a sort of oasis in the urban scenery.

4. The Zen Room has an area dedicated to film screening one small, but interesting DVD collection. Bring your own films!

5. Tapestries are the ex-libris of Arraiolos, a uniqueness of the portuguese tradition. In the House building, youÂ’ll find one of the most famous shops in the village.

6. Take time to practice some nature activities, visiting places of remarkable beauty and having lots of fun! Casa do Plátano can organize it for you.

Where To Go
 1. The village of Arraiolos
 2. Wine tasting
 3. Our Lady of the AssumptionÂ’s Convent
 4. MoraÂ’s Fluviário
 5. Évora
 6. Gastronomy

1. The regionÂ’s landscape, typical from the Alentejo, is one of the main assets of Arraiolos. From the Castle, you can enjoy an extraordinary view over its beautiful white houses and the surrounding nature.

2. In the Arraiolos, Évora and Estremoz triangle, there are many wine-producing estates where you can taste some of the most delicious nectars of the region.

3. A 17th-century building, characterised by the overlapping of styles - mainly manueline - mudéjar at the church and baroque in the convent. Really beautiful.

4. This original aquarium recreates the course from source to mouth of a typical Iberian river, through the various types of fauna that inhabits it.

5. World Heritage, Évora is culturally very interesting and offers a great alternative place to visit. Excellent restaurants.

6. Local Cuisine is very traditional. Highlights to the pork, lamb and veal dishes, the traditional soups, the Açordas and Migas. And don’t forget the wines.
